A man being transported by train from Greely, Colorado, was in custody when he jumped from the moving train near Shawnee, Oklahoma, according to The Green Forest Tribune in August 1909. The paper reported that he was injured in the fall and died a few hours later. The train was reportedly running about 60 miles an hour at the time of the jump.
