A Black man held in Nelson County, Virginia, was being taken under guard to the county seat, according to a Richmond telegraph dispatch printed in the Virginian-Pilot. The dispatch reported that a mob took him from the guard and hanged him from a tree near Arrington. The killing took place on September 14, 1900.
