A Black man whose name was not ascertained was held by guards at Cedar Bluff in Tazewell County, Virginia. According to the Alexandria Gazette, a mob took him from the guards and hanged him on the same tree as Sam Blow. The paper attributed this account to H. C. Kayton, a plumber working nearby. The paper reported that he was allowed a few minutes for prayer before he was hanged.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A plumber working nearby, H. C. Kayton, reported that a mob took a second Black man from guards at Cedar Bluff and hanged him on the same tree as Sam Blow.
