A Black man whose name is not recorded was being taken to jail in Texas in April 1906, escorted by deputy sheriffs. A mob seized him from the deputies and held him until the father of a young woman arrived. The father ordered the crowd back and shot the man dead with a shotgun loaded with buckshot.
