Two Black men, whose names the Richmond Planet did not give, were taken into custody at a camp near Weeks' turpentine camp near Brooksville, Florida, and placed in the charge of deputies to be taken to jail. According to the paper, the deputies instead led the men into the scrub and shot them. A search party found their decomposed bodies on the Sunday before the paper's May 19, 1900 report.
