A person died while in custody at the Roanoke City Adult Detention Center in Roanoke, Virginia, according to the Roanoke Sheriff's Office, which has not released their name. The sheriff's office said the person was still going through booking when they began to show signs of a medical emergency and were pronounced dead at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Virginia State Police are leading the investigation into the death.
