A 32-year-old man was held in a jail in Botetourt County, Virginia. In late May 2022, the sheriff's office said he was found unresponsive in his cell a few minutes after a deputy had completed a security check. He was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died shortly after midnight on June 2, 2022. The Botetourt County Sheriff's Office says he died from a suicide attempt, and the Virginia State Police are investigating his death.
