A person held in custody in Clayton County, Georgia, was taken by force from an officer by a mob on Saturday night, October 21, 1893, and killed. The Morning News reported the killing in its October 27, 1893 edition. Citizens of the county later gathered in a mass meeting to express their indignation at the lawless act.
