Two officers were taking a man to jail near Della, Texas, when a group of citizens seized him from them, according to a 1906 report in The Savannah Tribune. The group held him until another man arrived and fired both barrels of a shotgun loaded with buckshot into him, killing him.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A citizens' posse seized him from two officers taking him to jail, and the father of a girl connected to the case shot him with a shotgun loaded with buckshot.
