Five men held at a jail were taken from it by a mob of about seventy-five men who arrived in automobiles and broke in, according to The Dawson News. The jailer said he refused to give up the keys, but the mob searched him, took the keys, opened the jail's steel vault and removed the five men. The newspaper's headline reported that the five were hanged.
