Five Black men were held at a jail when a mob of about seventy-five men arrived in automobiles and broke into the building. The jailer said he refused to hand over the keys, but the mob searched him, took the keys, opened the steel vault and removed the five men. The Dawson News reported that the five were hanged by the mob. The account of how they were taken from the jail comes from the jailer.
