According to an Atlanta dispatch carried by the Savannah Morning News on July 7, 1904, a Black man held in the Gordon County jail in Georgia was taken from the jail by a mob and killed. He had been placed in the custody of the Gordon County sheriff before the mob took him. The mob's killing of him is reported as a lynching from the jail.
