A fire broke out in a dormitory at the Florida State Reform School in Marianna in 1914, and boys held there died in it. The Equal Justice Initiative puts the number of dead at six, while a 2013 Denver Post report says eight boys died after being locked in a room when the fire started. The two accounts disagree on how many boys died.
