A person held at the Citrus County Detention Facility, a jail in Lecanto, Florida, run by the private operator CoreCivic, died on November 2, 2026, after being found unresponsive in medical housing. Emergency medical services took them to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead about 6:06 p.m. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office says the death is under active investigation.
