A young man was held in the jail in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1933, when a mob broke in, took him from custody and killed him. Several people were later indicted in connection with the killing. The Atlanta Daily World reported in February 1934 that the prosecution was set to begin, with newspaper photographs to be used to identify members of the mob.
