A man held at the Dane County Jail in Madison, Wisconsin, was found unresponsive in his housing unit early on the morning of May 6, 2025. According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office, jail staff and emergency responders performed lifesaving efforts, and he was pronounced dead. Accounts give the discovery time as either 5:45 or 5:57 a.m. The Madison Police Department and the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating, and an autopsy was scheduled for later that week.
