The Horry County Sheriff's Office said a person held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County was found unresponsive in their cell on Monday, May 23, 2022, at about 10 p.m. The person was taken to Conway Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. The State Law Enforcement Division was called to investigate the death. The coroner had not released the person's name.
