A man aged 56 died on April 26, 2025, while held at the Santa Clara County Main Jail Complex in San Jose, according to KTVU's report of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office account. The sheriff's office said he was found unresponsive in his cell, and it said a preliminary investigation found no signs of foul play. He was pronounced dead about 5:45 p.m. after emergency measures and the arrival of San Jose firefighters. San Jose police are investigating the circumstances of his death, and no cause has been announced.
