A 53-year-old man held at the Santa Clara County Jail in San Jose died on July 8, 2018. Sheriff's officials said he was found unresponsive in his single-person cell at about 7:20 p.m. while deputies and medical staff were distributing medication, and that he had several health issues. Officials have not released his name or the cause of death, and he was pronounced dead a short time after he was found.
