A 39-year-old woman died in her cell at the Albany County jail on June 22, 2017. A corrections officer went to check on her after an earlier call to her went unanswered, and she was found dead around 7:30 that morning. She had been booked into the jail the day before. She had not yet been publicly identified, and an autopsy was to be conducted to determine how she died.
