A 27-year-old woman was one of 10 people who died in Oregon Department of Corrections custody between mid-September and late November 2021, a period when deaths rose sharply, according to Street Roots. The Department of Corrections and Oregon State Police, which investigates prison deaths, had not released the causes of these deaths. Eight of the 10 people who died were reported to be under hospice care.
