Two Black men held in the Marion, Tennessee jail were taken from custody by a mob in March 1910, according to a report in The Seattle Star. The report says the mob took the jail keys from a deputy sheriff, then marched the two men through town with ropes around their necks for about two hours before bringing them back to the jail. The next day the mob gathered again and lynched both men. The article is damaged in places, so their names cannot be read clearly.
