A woman died in January 2026, shortly after she was brought into the booking area of the Scioto County Jail in Ohio. A deputy found her walking along a roadside in Franklin Furnace and took her into custody, and she told the deputy she was bleeding, possibly from her period. Later she reported hip and abdominal pain, and she was told medical staff were available at the jail. The county has not released booking-area video or a stated cause of death, and the reporter found no evidence of foul play in the records reviewed.
