A Black person held in the jail at Morganfield, Union County, Kentucky, was taken from the jail by a masked mob on the night of December 8, 1874, and hanged. A report in the Gallipolis Journal two days later says the same group took another person from the same jail that night. The account of the mob's actions comes from that newspaper report.
