A mob took this Black person from the jail at Petersburg, Virginia, where they were held, and lynched them, as reported by The Plaindealer on January 2, 1891. The same episode is reported to have taken five Black people held in that jail out and killed them. This is the only account of the death, and it gives no name for the person.
