Jailers at the Shelby County jail at 201 Poplar in Memphis found the person unresponsive, and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office described it as a medical emergency. The person was taken to Methodist University Hospital and died there on January 31, 2025. The Daily Memphian reported the death as at least the 55th at the facility since 2019.
