A Black person whose name is not known was one of ten people a mob took from a jail and killed. Their body was found in a river-bottom about a mile from town. The Knoxville Weekly Chronicle, reprinting a dispatch, lists them among those killed by the mob.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A Knoxville Weekly Chronicle dispatch, reprinting a report, says a mob took him from the jail and killed him.
