According to a 2014 Missourinet report, a smaller second riot broke out at the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City on October 23, 1954. The report says a guard shot one person held at the prison, who died, and that about 40 people were injured. The report says the disturbance was put down in about an hour.
