A 45-year-old woman from Waterford Township died at the Oakland County Jail, where she had been held since March 17, 2020. The sheriff's office said a deputy found her hanging in her cell on Saturday evening, March 28, and she was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The medical examiner ruled the death a suicide, and the sheriff's office special investigation unit is still investigating. The sheriff's office said she was not on suicide watch and had not shown any suicidal thoughts.
