Died in custody
Name not reported
Two Black men were held by officers in Holmes County when a mob of citizens took them from custody late one afternoon and killed them, according to a 1910 New-York Tribune dispatch datelined Boniface, Va. The men are not named in the account. The mob's action followed the killing of a young girl, a claim the paper attributed to the men and which is not repeated here. The exact date and place are uncertain because the OCR text of the dateline is garbled.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched
