Name not reported

Two men, whose names the 1879 account does not give, were held in a county jail. The Sun reported that the sheriff and two deputies brought them out early one morning and handed them over to a mob. The sheriff's party travelled by rail toward Summit station, where about thirty armed mounted men were waiting to escort them to the county court house. There, the paper said, the sheriff himself helped fasten the ropes, and the two men were hanged before a large crowd.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A mob took two men from a county jail with the sheriff and two deputies present, and hanged them; the account says the sheriff helped fasten the ropes.
