An unnamed man was being held in a sheriff's wagon on the road to Goliad, Texas, in June 1874, according to the Rockport Transcript as reported by the New York Dispatch. The account says a strong force overtook the wagon, took him from the sheriff and killed him. He was taken in the same incident as another captured man, who was also killed.
