Two brothers surnamed Cox were held in a Louisiana jail, and the New York Age editorial by T. Thomas Fortune says a group of white men took them from the jail and shot them to death. According to the editorial, the killing grew out of the Louisiana sugar strikes, and the brothers were leaders in the strike and in labor organizations. The editorial argues the mob had no right to take them from the custody of the law and that the brothers were entitled to a fair trial.
