A man in his 60s died on July 26, 2021, while held at the Chautauqua County Jail in New York. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office said he reported chest pains and difficulty breathing, and that Emergency Medical Services took him to Westfield Memorial Hospital, where he became unresponsive and could not be revived. The sheriff's office said the state Attorney General's Office was notified under a new state law and sent a detective to investigate. His name had not been released.
