A 38-year-old man died on December 16, 2021, at the Onondaga County Justice Center in Syracuse, New York, where he was held. The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office said he strangled himself with a bedsheet in his cell and that the sheet was removed before he was taken to Crouse Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office said the state Attorney General and Commission of Correction were notified and will investigate the death. His name has not been released.
