A man died in his cell at the Ontario County Jail in New York on November 5, 2021. The Ontario County Sheriff's Office said staff found him unconscious and unresponsive just before 5 a.m. and gave care until an ambulance arrived. He was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day. The state attorney general's office is investigating, and his body was sent to the Monroe County Medical Examiner for an autopsy, which has not yet determined the cause or manner of death.
