A man held at the Monroe County Jail in New York died on Thursday, August 29, 2019. A jail deputy found him at about 5:30 a.m. in his cell with a bedsheet tied around his neck, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said he died by suicide by hanging. An autopsy, a criminal investigation, an internal review and a state Commission of Correction investigation were launched into the death.
