A person held in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody died on October 24, 2026, at the Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego. CoreCivic, which operates the facility, said a staff member found the person in a housing unit a little after 11:30 a.m. and that emergency medical professionals pronounced them dead on site. The company has not released the person's name, gender or nationality, and ICE had not published information about the death as of Monday.
