Before daylight on Saturday, December 14, 1878, a disguised mob came to the jail at Lake City and took two people who were being held there. The mob shot both of them dead and mortally wounded a third person. The dead were killed after being taken from the jail, where the state had held them.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A disguised mob took two people from the Lake City jail and shot them dead.
