According to a Juniata Sentinel dispatch published September 11, 1872, an armed mob took three men from the jail at Florence and hanged them in September 1872. He was one of those three men, held at the Florence jail until an armed mob took him out and hanged him. The dispatch describes the killing as the work of the mob.
