Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said a person held at the Pittsylvania County Jail in Virginia died on December 29, 2025. According to the sheriff, deputies found them unresponsive in their cell during a security round in the early hours of that Monday. The sheriff said preliminary evidence points to a medical emergency, and the cause of death is still under investigation.
