The Iowa Department of Corrections reported in a count published by Iowa Capital Dispatch on February 1, 2021, that a person held at Anamosa State Penitentiary had died of COVID-19. The same count attributed a second death, of a person held at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center, to COVID-19. Both deaths appear in the department's count as reported by the newspaper.
