Tywain Neal, 28, was one of eight men who died in a fire at the Mitchell County jail in Bakersville, North Carolina, on May 3, 2002. Mitchell County Sheriff Ken Fox said the men died of smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire had not been determined as of the following days. Two deputies freed eight other people from the ground floor of the jail.
