Tyrone Wilson, 50, was held at the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond, Mississippi. The Hinds County District Attorney's office says investigators found him lying on his back in the cell he shared with another man, on February 23, 2023, while early reports from the sheriff's office place his discovery shortly after midnight on February 24, and the sheriff initially said the cause was unknown pending an autopsy. The district attorney's office says video shows a struggle inside the cell and that his cellmate beat him to death, and a jury has since convicted the cellmate of first-degree murder. According to the district attorney, Wilson's family, who live in Illinois, did not have the chance to say goodbye to him.
