Tylor Lee Ormsbee
Tylor Lee Ormsbee, 25, of Kalamazoo, was known to his father Chris as upbeat and eager to turn his life around, a man who loved music and began writing songs after his sister's death in 2005. He was the oldest of 14 siblings. On October 24, 2024, while Mecosta County Sheriff's Office deputies were transporting him in a van to a state prison, he got out of the rear compartment while the van was moving on US-127. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died later that month, and the sheriff's office announced his death on October 27. The sheriff's office says his injuries came from the fall from the van rather than from being struck by a vehicle, while the Michigan State Police are investigating, and his family says they still have unanswered questions about how it happened.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined. The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office says he was critically injured when he escaped from a moving transport van on US-127, and the Michigan State Police investigation is still pending.
Reported by: Mecosta County Sheriff's Office (the agency that held him). The only account of how this person died comes from the agency that held him.
