Tyler Townsend
Tyler Townsend, 29, died on January 14, 2015, while in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was being transported on a prison bus that went off Interstate 20 near Penwell and collided with a moving train. The National Transportation Safety Board found that the bus lost control after striking a damaged guardrail, and reported that ten people on the bus died in the crash. A Texas Office of the Attorney General custodial death report lists his death as occurring in state prison custody on that date.
