Tshante Gonzalez
Tshante Gonzalez, a 40-year-old woman who worked in human resources for Kiowa Casino Enterprises and attended Cameron University, was held at the Comanche County Detention Center in Lawton, Oklahoma, in May 2023. Her husband, Joseph Gonzalez, a retired National Guard medic and Iraq War veteran, says in a federal lawsuit that she had lupus, that her prescribed medication was ignored, and that she vomited, lost motor function and lay on her cell floor for days before she was taken to Comanche County Memorial Hospital. The lawsuit also alleges that staff told her she was fine and that she was taken to the hospital only after family members called the facility. The medical examiner listed septic shock with multiorgan failure from an MRSA pneumonia infection as the cause of death, and she died on May 8, 2023. Her claims against jail officials were set for federal trial in May 2026, and the jail's account of its care has not been given in these sources.
