Tristan Gist
Tristan Gist died in late April 2024 at Lee Correctional Institution, a South Carolina state prison, where he was held. The South Carolina Department of Corrections said he was found unresponsive in his cell late on a Tuesday night and that investigators are treating his death as a homicide. An arrest warrant made public in June 2025 says he was stabbed many times with scissors and had wounds on his hands consistent with defensive wounds, and it names his cellmate. The department's Inspector General's office, SLED and the Lee County Coroner were investigating, and an autopsy had been scheduled.
