Trillus Smith
Trillus Smith, 22, died in her cell at the Pulaski County jail in February 2017, about two weeks after she was taken into custody. Her uncle, Byron Jenkins, said she was healthy, had been distraught over her father's death three years earlier, and had been placed on suicide watch. The sheriff's office said she was found unresponsive at 5 a.m. on a Wednesday, that she was alone, that there were no signs of trauma, and that it did not appear she had killed herself. Her body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory for autopsy, and the cause of death had not been determined at the time of reporting; the family planned to seek a private autopsy.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined (disputed). The sheriff's office says the cause has not been determined and that it does not appear she killed herself, while her uncle says she had no known medical problems and plans a private autopsy.
Reported by: Pulaski County sheriff's office (Lt. Cody Burk) (the agency that held her). The only account of how this person died comes from the agency that held her.
