Trayvon Ocain
Trayvon Ocain, 33, of Baltimore, died on January 1, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center after a medical episode at the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center, where he was being held before trial. His cousin, Trina Ocain, said he had a one-year-old baby and that the family wants everyone responsible held accountable. The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said staff responded to a medical emergency at 4:08 p.m. The family says he had been unwell for hours and that other people held at the facility described staff being slow to respond to his complaints, and they say they have not received an explanation from jail officials. The autopsy and investigation are still pending.
